 1 September 2009 Flu vaccine 2008

"Have you had your flu vaccine yet?"
The flu season will be upon us again early in the New Year, so now is the time to consider flu vaccination.

If you are 65 or over, or have one of the health problems such as heart or chest disease that might make flu more dangerous, then you are advised to have a flu-jab.

We have several flu clinics coming up, so ring the surgery and book your appointment.

Our supplies are variable, and we do run out from time to time, so do bear with us if we have to put you off. We are promised there should be enough to go round!

 1 September 2009 Broken Link

  "NHS Direct Link not working"
In the Out of Hours section of the website there is a link to NHS Direct. This link has become corrupted. If you need NHS Direct, there is a link on the Links page, or Google "NHS Direct".

We're working on it!

1 September 2009 Saturday Seasonal Flu Clinic

  "Saturday 26 September 2009"

 1 May 2009 Arrivals Screen

  "Arrivals Screen"
Latest gadget in the refurbished reception area is the arrivals touch screen.

The aim of this is that when you arrive for an appointment, rather than waiting in a queue to give your name to a busy receptionist, you can register your arrival automatically. Simply touch the screen and follow the instructions.

We hope that this will save you time and hassle, and free up receptionist time to do other jobs such as answering phone calls.

Of course you can still register via the receptionist if you prefer.

Don't forget you can make appointments on line!

1 March 2009 Please do not email the surgery

"Email via this website is not confidential"
Although this website has a link marked "Contact us", this should not be used for sending us medical information or requests. This is explained on the page.

The page is not confidential or secure, and could be available to a third paty with malicious intent.

It is not monitored frequently enough for us to respond to an important medical question.

Appiontments can be made and repeat prescriptions requested via the appropriate links on the site.

Please contact us by phone (01977 682208) or fax (01977 681665) or drop a letter into the surgery or the Old Hungate Hospital.

 1 December 2007 What cuts

  "Cuts - what cuts?"
Readers of the Yorkshire Post & Evening Post of 29th December will have read about the North Yorkshire & York Primary Care Trust's plans to reduce their financial deficit in line with Government direction. We feel that our patients need to know that, among other things, the PCT plans not to finance some procedures. We will therefore not be able to refer people to hospital for NHS treatment of:
Anal Skin Tags
Varicose Veins
Wisdom teeth
Surgical Intervention for Chronic Pain (back injections)
Plain Xrays & MRI of the back
Joint injections
Surgery for Dupuytren's Disease
Carpal tunnel procedures
Bunions
Ganglions
Trigger Finger
Vasectomy
Circumcision
Penile Implant Surgery
Arthroscopy
Grommets

As a practice we are outraged by this plan, further erosion of patients' right to expect treatment by the NHS. We have made our feelings known to the PCT Chief Executive.
