Maternity Care

Health Visitor with ChildWe provide a maternity medical service, and work closely with local midwives. Women who believe they are pregnant should see a doctor in surgery. Once pregnancy is confirmed you will be asked to attend an antenatal clinic with the midwife and doctor, and further care will be planned. Depending on circumstances and patients’ choice, care can be arranged with York, Pontefract, Leeds General Infirmary or St James’ Hospitals.

Parentcraft classes for future mothers and fathers are held regularly, arranged by the midwives and health visitors.

Child Health Clinic

Well Baby Clinics (any child of pre-school age) for all aspects of child health are run by the Health Visitors on Tuesdays 1-3.30pm and Thursdays 2-3.30pm. Appointments are not necessary. Immunizations are carried out at these clinics. Routine checks of development are by appointment on Monday afternoons. Six week checks are normally done in the Well baby Clinics.

A doctor is present at the Tuesday clinic 2-3.30pm.

Please do not bring ill children to the Well Baby Clinics, but to a regular surgery.
